A spectacular display of heritage, unity, colour, music and traditions at Gabs Glorious Kids Academy
At Gabs Glorious Kids Academy, Cultural Day is more than an event — it is a vibrant celebration of identity, pride, and unity. This year’s edition was nothing short of magical as pupils, teachers, and parents came together adorned in colourful traditional attires representing the Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Tiv, Igala, Fulani, Ebira, and many more ethnic groups.
From the early hours of the morning, the school grounds blossomed with bursts of colour, rhythmic drumbeats, cultural patterns, and cheerful laughter. Every corner of the school radiated with pride as pupils embraced and showcased the beauty of Nigeria’s diverse cultural heritage.
The event featured an exciting lineup of cultural performances. Pupils dazzled the audience with traditional dances such as the Shigidi Dance, Swange Dance, Igbo Maiden Dance, Bata Dance, and Fulani Sharo Display.
The highlight of the day was the cultural parade where each group proudly showcased their attire, accessories, languages, and greetings. The atmosphere was electrifying as different tribes took turns presenting their unique cultural identity on stage.
No Cultural Day is complete without food — and ours was a true celebration of Nigerian kitchens! Parents and teachers prepared a wonderful array of traditional dishes such as jollof rice, tuwo shinkafa, pounded yam with egusi, moin-moin, masa, nkwobi, fried plantain, coconut candy, and traditional snacks.
The aroma alone was enough to make the children dance! Pupils had the opportunity to taste meals from tribes other than their own, promoting unity and appreciation of different cultures.
Beyond the fun and excitement, our Cultural Day teaches important values such as tolerance, respect, unity, teamwork, and appreciation of identity.
Pupils learned:
• the importance of preserving cultural heritage
• how diversity strengthens society
• that every tribe contributes to Nigeria’s beauty
• the value of peaceful coexistence
The event also reinforced our commitment to raising globally aware children who cherish their roots and celebrate others.
The 2025 Cultural Day at Gabs Glorious Kids Academy was a colourful reminder that though we come from different backgrounds, we are one people, one family, one Nigeria.
We look forward to an even more spectacular celebration next year as we continue nurturing confident, cultured, and globally-ready pupils.
